“Protective Coating” is a general term used to
describe paint, barrier coatings, sacrificial
coatings, corrosion inhibitors, and sealers. Most metal
structures and commercial building envelopes have
multi-coat systems, while concrete, brick, and stone
may be sealed with a clear sealer or anti-graffiti
coating. To get the most “service life” out of a
coating system, many issues need to be evaluated,
details designed and systems verified.
